Bill Hessman, DVM

Dr. Bill Hessman received a BS in 1983 and his DVM in 1985 from Kansas State University. He returned to southwest Kansas after graduation and opened a mixed animal practice concentrating on feedyard consultation. Because of the impact that BVDV had with his feedyard clients, he began conducting research on BVDV in feedyard production systems. Dr. Hessman has conducted multiple studies with the USDA, Universities and IDEXX Laboratories. Considered to be an expert on BVDV in cattle production systems, Dr. Hessman has authored or co-authored multiple papers on BVDV and has presented this information around the world.

Becky Leggett, DVM

Dr. Leggett was born in Satanta, KS and graduated from Oklahoma Panhandle State University with a BS in Biology and Animal Science. She earned her DVM from the University of Missouri in May 2014. She started working at Haskell County Animal Hospital in June of 2014. Dr. Becky has chosen to come back to southwest Kansas to be close to her family. She has two dogs, three horses and enjoys barrel racing and the outdoors.

Debra Hessman, Practice Manager

Debra was born in Satanta, KS. Upon graduating high school, she attended Kansas State University and received a bachelor of science in Finance and Marketing. She married Dr. Bill Hessman in 1985 and moved to Sublette in 1986 when they opened Haskell County Animal Hospital. She has been working with Dr. Bill since 1991 as the practice manager. Her and Dr. Bill have 3 children and are very active in their community.
